TA _ THE PRONUNCIATION OF TIMORESE EFL LEARNERS : A CASE STUDY ON “ENGLISHES” CREATED BY CULTURE
ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research were to see the impact of cultural differences on the pronunciation of Timorese EFL Learners. The samples of this research were the Timorese EFL Learners in STKIP SOE. The approach employed in this research was descriptive qualitative. Data collection of this research was conducted through recording and interview. The findings show that there were several problems that affected Timorese EFL Learners in learning English as a second language included : lifestyle, first language affecting second language, environment, and also personality. The researcher
had several recommendation to teachers, students and further researchers in the process of learning English as a foreign language from Timorese Learners that was had different cultural background, lifestyle, first language and also environment. The teachers must have sufficient knowledge to provide examples and motivations to students. The students must motivate themselves to be able to add the knowledge, and for the further researcher, to more research in the section on cultural differences.
