TA _ Students’ Problems and Their Solutions in Learning Writing

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to find out students‟ problems in learning writing and their solution to solve the problems. The method of this study was Descriptive qualitative method with semi structured (in-depth) interview as the instrument of this study. The participants used to do this research were the sixth semester students of English Education Program of Institut Pendidikan Soe. The data were collected by interviewing 5 students and taking out their own writing draft as the supporting data. The data was analyzed through three steps such as data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result showed that there were 11 problems found by students in learning writing such as lack of vocabulary, idea, transition word, plagiarism, afraid of making mistake, cannot focus to write, lack of knowledge about grammar, tenses, having anxiety, jumping idea, and low of motivation. In addition, there were 7 solutions applied by students to overcome the problems such as revising, practice more, watching videos, reading, asking for help, doing writing at night, and ignoring unimportant thing.
