TA _ STUDENTS’ PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS IN RADING

Abstract
This study aimed to find out the problems faced by students in SMA Negeri Ki’e when reading English text and to describe the solutions of SMA Negeri Ki’e cope with the problems faced in reading English text. The participants of this study were the students of XI in SMA Negeri Ki'e. The researcher used descriptive qualitative as the research design and collected the data by using interview (Focus Group Discussion). The researcher found that there were many problems in reading namely students difficult to understand the writing, lack of vocabulary, poor pronunciation, and not solution. Meanwhile, there were many strategies in reading namely; keep practicing reading English, keep students’ motivation, asking help to the teacher, and reading together with friends. Based on the result gathered, the researcher concluded that students reading ability improved because the students used many strategies to overcome their problems. Those strategies help the students experienced a good reader.
