TA _ IMPROVING STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION THROUGH SONG IN SMP NEGERI 3 SOE
Abstract
The use of mother tongue can be hinder for the advancement of English. The objective of this research is to describe in pronunciation after being taught using English pop song. This thesis used classroom action research, aimed to improve
student‟s pronunciation throught song in SMP Negeri 3 Soe. The participants of the research were 30 students of grade VIII/5. There were two cycles in this classroom action research in which the researchers used songs as the treatment. The students were introduced some songs matched with the material. The result was collected from pre-test and post-test scores, observation checklist and as the additional media the researcher did the reflection based on students weekly journal. For the first cycle the students show the unsatisfied result for their pronunciation improvement, and the percentage was only 75%, with the higher improvement of their intelligibility and accuracy.. This achievement still less than the average. The second cycle using English pop songs conducted by researcher and the improvement of students pronunciation reached 90%.
