TA _ Using Cake Application to Improve Students Speaking Ability in Transactional Speaking Class
ABSTRACT
The aim of this research was to assess and measure the students’ improvement in speaking ability after using Cake Application. The method of this research was classroom action research with test and observation checklist as the instrument of the study. The participants of this research were 14 students of 2nd semester at English Department of Institut Pendidikan Soe who took Transactional Speaking Class. The problems that effects students’ speaking ability in English were due to the fear of grammar mistakes, incorrect pronunciation and limited vocabulary. This fear leads to decrease of
confidence which effects their ability to communicate in English. Therefore, this research could help find solutions to these issues using Cake Application. In implemented the Cake Application the researcher found the result from the pre-test was 37.85, it means only 1 student who has the speaking ability in English. While, The mean score of post-test 1 in cycle one was 49.28. Meanwhile, to develop the students’ score in cycle 2 Cake Application still implemented. So the result showed that
their speaking score were 100% students’ have improved their speaking ability. From the mean score 2 is showed that students’ speaking ability was increase in all aspects such as grammar, pronunciation, Vocabulary and they were more confident in speaking. Therefore it can be proved that Cake Application could improve students’ speaking skill in Transactional Speaking Class.
