TA _ Morphological Analysis of Clitics in the Amanuban Dialect of Uab Meto
Abstract
This study explores the clitics in the Amanuban Dialect of Uab Meto. The objective is to analyze how these small word parts (clitics) function in sentence formation and understanding within this dialect. This study focused on the Amanuban dialect where clitics found in, which is one of the three main types of Uab Meto. The research used a descriptive qualitative method. This approach allows for an in-depth exploration of clitics by examining native speakers' usage and perspectives. The study identified two types of clitics: proclitics and enclitics. Proclitics, such as “m-,” “t-,” and “n-,” appear before verbs and correspond to different pronouns, while enclitics like “-kum,” “-kun,” and “-kuk” follow verbs to indicate pronouns. For example, “m-” is used with “Hom” (You), and “-kum” is used with “Hom” (You). These clitics are crucial for clarifying the subject in sentences, helping speakers express themselves more clearly and effectively. Understanding these clitics provides insight into how Uab Meto speakers construct sentences, making communication more precise and reflecting the adaptability of language in everyday use.
