TA _ THE USE OF ROLE PLAY TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVESTUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY (A case of ten gradeof SMA Kristen 1 SoE)
Abstract
This journal aims to investigate the students’ improvement on speaking ability
through the application of Role Play technique. There were 25students of SMA Kristen 1
Soe as the participants. The researcher used Classroom Action Research as the method
and collect the data by using test, in the form of pre test and post test and observation for
the teacher and the students. The result of the study indicated that Role play can improve
students’ speaking ability. The improvement covered, the students being active in the
process of teaching and learning, pronouncing the words clearly with few errors, being
able to construct a simple sentence fluently, their comprehension reflect topic, and the
students being able to create content of the dialogue which is relevant to the topic.
